Alumni Reunion Group
The FPPOA alumni reunion group was founded by former board president Bill Woodard in 1970 for the purpose of continuing the friendships among officers and individuals – and their spouses - who (1) was serving or had served on the board of the association, or (2) worked with the board over the years and was invited to join. That membership basis continues to the present. The group first met in New Orleans in 1970 and has met in the fall of each year since, in various cities in the United States. The organization is informal. The members pay an annual “dues” of $10, mainly to cover postage and some incidentals.
The annual reunion sites are chosen from one of two very broad regions in the United States: eastern and western, with the Mississippi River as the dividing line. One year it will meet in the east, the next in the west, before repeating the cycle. During the reunion, there is one business meeting - that lasts about an hour - and is mainly for the purpose of selecting the following year’s location. Members who live in the region of the site work together to plan the reunion there. The upcoming reunion for the spring of 2010 is planned for Costa Rica. Past locations include:
