Awards: Regional Line Officer - Central StatesAdolpho Sanchez Award Adolfo Sanchez was appointed as a U.S. Probation Officer in the Western District of Texas, El Paso, on February 19, 1973. In 1981 he was named the recipient of the Central States Regional Line Officer of the Year Award, in part for his work with the Mexican Government in securing the release of American prisoners in Mexican jails under the Prisoner Exchange Program. He also taught rational behavior therapy for the Bureau of Prisons and at a local community college and halfway house. Al worked with substance abusers and was promoted to senior status as a substance abuse specialist in 1983. He died on July 24, 1990 as a result of complications of heart surgery.
